*** Turtle Lake Race Is Cancelled ***

With the ice conditions on Turtle Lake very poor we were forced to look at other venues. Isanti was our second option but that too proved to be challenging.

Due to the lack of ice and our normal location on the lake being used we would be on the north end of the lake where parking is not adequate.

For those that have registered we will transfer it to the next race. In the event that you will not be at Spooner please contact Cheri.

Please hold all registration for Spooner till Saturday (1-3) so Cheri can get the two races sorted out.

As of now we are not sure if this race will be made up at a later date, a double header, or cancelled. More information to come regarding this.

** Update ** – Turtle Lake

As of Tuesday afternoon we are working on a new race location. We are currently looking at Long Lake in Isanti at Captains on Long Lake.

Approval from the local Sherriff is pending as well as the Insurance due to the lake change. An EMT II or Paramedic is needed as well. I’m currently looking for one on short notice as we were not schedule for Isanti till February 21. If anyone has one in mind please call me at 715-225-0604.

Check back often for more updates as we work on changing locations.

** Update on Turtle Lake **

Here is the latest on the race at Turtle Lake.

Attempting to make a track at Turtle Lake today proved to be quite challenging. Removal of the snow was a success, but so was breaking through the slush layer creating quite a problem. As it sits right now, the slushy layer is not freezing creating soft spots, rough patches and is currently not anything I would put any kid out there on to race.

We are looking into different options which include a different race location, venue swap, track flooding, a double header race (Saturday-Sunday), and possibly a cancellation.

More information to follow as we look at the above options.

Please check back daily for up to date information on the upcoming race.

1st Race – Turtle Lake, WI

As of this afternoon Upper Turtle lake had approximately 8’1/2″ of ice with 2″ of water, snow and slushy mix on top of it.

Monday (12-28) we will be working on getting the track built with four wheelers. Mother nature is on our side for making ice, but against us on getting the track built.

The plan is to use wheelers to plow the slush layer off to get down to the good ice that is there, as long as the slushy layer does not freeze to hard.

Please check back to see updates as we work hard to get this first race under way.
