3/4/17 Garrison Race Update

We checked the public access out in Garrison today. It has gotten worse than it was this weekend. We were able to get the plow truck through the open water and on to the lake to plow. We plan to build a road bridge across the bad area Friday afternoon so we can access the lake safely. We will not make a call on parking until Friday night. There is still lots of moving ice and new heaves showing up, so it will be a Friday night call. We will not be doing a potluck in the interest of moving the race day along on Saturday to make sure we have lots of time left over to do fun races etc. We will start hot laps at 8am, drivers meeting 8:45am, and start racing 9am sharp. We stopped in at Eddys Resort to look at the facilities as well. It is a really nice setup!!!! (I will shave and not wear vertical stripes, guys like Mark should think about a new dressier hooded sweatshirt, Matt Wille should make sure not to wear his skinny pants, Justin should change out of his racing floral swim trunks etc, just tips for fitting in) The banquet room we can use all night. It is equipped with a jukebox, pool table, darts, giant Jenga, giant Connect 4, bean bag boards, large screen TV etc……..It is a private room with doors we can shut and let the kids be loud etc.  They will be providing a mexican taco bar for us you can purchase plates for. There will be kids and adult rates I am getting pricing on still. It should be an awesome day!!!!!!! I will update again if there is need tomorrow, but most likely it will be a Friday update unless I hear something from the local contacts up there tomorrow.

Thanks Jon

3/4/17 KPI Race Update

Sam, Travis, and Justin checked ice conditions today in White Bear Lake. With that being said it is not an option for racing this weekend. The Isanti County Sheriff also called me today and they are canceling lake event permits due to ice. I talked with the Crow Wing County Sheriff this morning, and they are willing to offer us a permit to come back up to Garrison on Saturday so we can complete our 8th race to finish the season out. That is our plan today. We will check ice and access throughout the week and give updates. If we do race I want to put an emphasis on having fun and finishing off the season. I would like to get started early so we can fit in lots of fun races at the end of the day along with a potluck.  I am going to try get a hotel to give us good rates for Saturday so people can stay late and not be rushed to get home and hang out that night with all the race families.  We as of right now do not have sponsorship money for this race due to last minute. We will do recycled trophies, and possibly try salvage the tracks from last week to try save on money. That is the plan as of now. Conditions could change daily. If you have questions please call text or email myself or Sam. Please contact myself or Sam if you would stay Saturday night if we got discounts on rooms. If I can give the hotel an idea of how many families would help me bargain with them!!!!

Thanks for the patience will update this daily.

Jon

Garrison Update

Both tracks are plowed and shaved. They look awesome!!!! We will be racing on the track to the south on Saturday as you come out of the Garrison Public Access. On Sunday we will race the track to the North. There will we a $10 per racer per day track shaving fee you can pay at registration. We have a couple trailers and 4 wheelers to ferry sleds out on the ice. The ice is great but the access is not. With that being said do not try to access the lake with vehicles. We are trying to get it to freeze up tonight enough for foot traffic and atvs to be comfortable.  The access will not stand up to our clubs truck and trailer traffic on and off the ice all weekend. So we have chose to park on shore. Below is the address to the garrison access:

8906 US 169

Garrison MN 56450

Garrison Update 2/23/17

We have been up all day, we will race this weekend, plan on parking on shore, we will have at least one trailer to ferry sleds out on the ice. If anyone else can add a trailer it would be great. We are going out in the morning again to setup and shave the track. Will update the site in the midday tommorrow again, but we are racing!!!

Garrison Update 2/22/17

Well just posting to what I know today. The south public access got cleaned out today. It is perfectly fine for on shore parking and pulling sleds out with Atv’s……….so we are covered as of now for a worst case scenario. We cleaned out the access near garrison also so we can get a plow rig and ice shaver out over to the race location. No news is good news I guess. I think tommorrow when we start plowing will tell the story. We will have an update in the afternoon tomorrow.
